Hi, I'm
Sylvia Emokpae

Founder of Me, Mummy & I

As a first-time mother, I expected to reap the benefits of motherhood and for it to simply look good on me. I fell in love with my perfect baby and I really was, most of the time, happy.

But I also felt many other things that aren't spoken about so much. I was exhausted, and then I felt bad for feeling bad. I felt selfish for not being able to hold it together when I was so tired. I couldn't believe that I had to just accept that my baby wouldn't sleep by himself. I couldn't accept that I had to make sacrifices and be OK with that.

During the lockdown of 2020, I started to blog as a way to process my feelings of guilt, selfishness, and failure. I came to love writing, which prompted a lot of honest thinking and internal growth. I discovered one really important thing during this enlightening journey.

I realized I could have the best of all worlds.

I didn't have to make sacrifices and later regret them. I could set my own expectations, and be flexible with them. I could eliminate the guilt and do what I want, and show my kids how to create a good balance too.

I have a firm belief that we're all here on this Earth with one goal - and that is fulfillment. As parents, we have a further goal - cultivating fulfillment in our children.

I founded Me, Mummy & I with a vision to help parents in their journeys towards exactly that, not just as parents, but as individuals too.

This starts with getting the basics right - sleep.

I suffered intense sleep deprivation in the first few months following my firstborn son's birth, and I went into dark places.

It was when my husband once came into the bedroom and found me sitting up. in bed, cradling air - with the baby asleep in his cot next to me - that he saw how bad it was.

Some nights, I can't have got more than 2 hours' sleep because my baby wouldn't settle without me. When he did settle, he'd wake up regularly. During the day, my son would only sleep on me. I was at my wit's end. This was of course on top of worrying about my son's sleep. He wasn't getting enough either, and I felt like a failure.

But then, I hired a sleep expert to help my son sleep independently, and I never looked back. The first time I slept a 5-hour stretch, I woke up feeling revived. I could not believe how much a lack of sleep affected my entire life. I felt like the fog had finally lifted.

Fast forward 3 years, a tonne of study, and over 200 published articles later, I decided to become a Sleep Training Coach. I graduated as a Certified Infant & Child Sleep Consultant and the rest is history. I offer different packages, but they're all carefully tailored to meet the needs of babies, and surpass the goals of tired parents.

I have also continued blogging - subscribe below to get all the tips you need to get your little one to sleep!
